5 speed reverse lock out

Post by peanut222 »

Hi there guys,

I am replacing all the shifter and linkage bits on my 1990 2.1 5speed Devon, I discovered that there is no reverse lock out tab on the shifter housing, also there was no spring on the bottom of the gear stick (fork end) where the bellows, sliding pin etc are...?

Am I right in thinking that this just means I have no lock out as these parts are missing?

What ideally should I do about this?

Many thanks in advance!!

Keith

Three pages on the 5-speed. Have a nose: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ge ... hanism_Pt1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It could be that a 5-speed was fitted in replacement for a failed 4-speed box and hence the mismatch of parts but have a read.

Theres also a misplaced assumption that a 5-speed is better than a 4-speed or that extra power will be generated, which is not the case.
