another oil leak

another oil leak
can some one help please ive had flywheel seal done oil cooler seals done push rod tubes done and now ive found this leak seams to be all over cylinder 3 and 4 is there anything above there that could be leaking or is it the cylinders themselves is on a 2.0 cu type 4 engine

i did have a leak there but fixed it i'm leaning towards it being residue from previous leaks its too dark to be new oil might get under there with a steam cleaner at the weekend see if it goes away

The big problem with oil leaks under the engine..is that they can come from elsewhere and get blown about..
What we need to find out is whether the leak is caused when running.. pressure leaks.. or at rest.. case leaks...
So you will need to procure a large sheet of corrugated cardboard and a brick.
After the engine has run, place the card under the whole motor, the brick keeps it in place..
12 hrs later..; take a photo and bring it to the surgery..
Issues: I do not like goop on the exhaust manifolds..
and those exhaust nuts will need watching..
Can we have a photo of a head with the rocker box off please..

My current van is apart from a brief love affair with a ridiculously under steering Hillman Imp, the only vehicle I have had with an engine in the back.
In the early days and particularly in response to the MOT, we were compensated when suffering oil leaks with a built in chassis lubrication system which no doubt helped considerably in combating corrosion from the shot blast effect of winter salt and gravel particularly in city's. I do have a very slight oil leak in my WBX but frankly see little benefit in lubricating my rear bumper and so would prefer to go dry so to speak.

Info Ping: The under steer on the admittedly feeble acceleration in the Imp was cured contra intuitively by a bag of sand placed in the "Boot" at the front. I say contra intuitively as adding a bag of cement to a correctly balanced vehicle would normally have the reverse effect. The "Impish" behaviour in Hilmans case presumably being insufficient weigh at the front axle. I suspect that a similar but more complex situation exists in the case of the porsche 911 oversteer due again to poor inherent for and aft weight distribution and giving rise to the comment about brilliant engineering over bad design much scorned by their fans.

hello sarran1955 thanks for your speedy reply decided to clean the bottom of the engine at the weekend also will clean the goop off manifolds and put some new nuts on there too will post some pictures of the head with rocker box off it looks like old oil as i have got fresh oil in there i have fixed most of the leaks it had. is it worth pulling the distributor and the carb on that side so i can remove the tin to get a better look at the cylinder jugs and head and case bolts is the distributor easy to remove
