Getting your van off the ground

Post by TheBeaver »

A simple question. What is peoples preferred method of lifting their vans off the ground to work on them?

Or some third solution I haven't thought of...

When doing major jobs i raise up van and place all 4 wheels on platforms made of lots of layers of plywood screwed together. Also use small axle stands on rear jacking crossmember.

Depends what the job is... ramps if you just need to get underneath or stands if you need to take the wheels off.

These days however I mostly have to choose whether to use the 4-post lift or the 2-post lift... :run

As above for the majority of work ramps are quicker and more convenient, stands only if you need to take the wheels off.
