So many questions where do I start?

Post by TheBeaver »

I recently bought a T3 off a girl that never really drove it before she sold it. The guy before her had owned it had had it for a while (the Leisure battery has a Dymo strip on it stating it is from 1997)

My problem is that I have not had anyone to 'introduce' me to the van. I don't know what half of the electrical stuff is in it and what should be working and how to test it.

I am guessing there is a heating system there, is this one of the things that will only kick in if I am running off mains? How can I check if it is functioning?

What are these things? They seem like old school cigarette sockets (plug in 12v) Should I just remove them? Are they obsolete?

Can anyone give me a little briefing on what they see and what I should expect?

Cheers

Angus

Starting at the bottom:
DIN sockets - better quality 12v sockets than cigar lighter ones. I say don't remove them!
You appear to have an Eberspächer heater fitted - most probably a D2L/B2L but can't say for certain without seeing it or know where it is mounted - if you have a box underneath the offside that has a couple of apprx. 24mm pipes and 2 large 90mm ones that will be a D2L/B2L.
No idea what other switches are without tracing wiring as they are non standard. Meter is battery voltage, presumably leisure battery going by where it is mounted.
