charging a battery with a power pack
hi guys just looking for some advice after going away to disney for four days and coming back to start me van the batts dead, think i might of left the crappy radio on oooops, any ways ive got one of them power pack things with jump leads on,connected um up tried to crank her over but still nothing altho when the pack connected all dash lights and radio works, does this mean the battery is so flat that it ull take more than a jolt of juice to get the engine going and hence all the power pack is doing is supplying enuf elec to excite the radio? and can i use the power pack to charge the battery over night and then give it a go? or do i have to buy an actual charger?ive read on here in another post about vw battery not liking the cold and losing its charge is that right? many thanks in advance

The power pack wont charge your battery.
It the van battery is really flat the power pack wont give enough charge to start it.
Batteries all rely on chemical reactions and almost all chemical reactions work better the warmer they are
Get a good charger, and pt your battery on for 12 - 18 hours.

NO, all that will hapen is the flat battery will draw down the jumper.. then prob still wont start the engine.. DO NOT plug the charger in while the jumper is still connected.. either the unit will fail.. or cause a fire...
As suggested, get a charger...
Oh.. and why would a "vw battery" be any different to any other battery in the cold??? Simply not true..
What is true, is that the cold will show a poor battery.. if yours is old and tired, then the cold snap may have tipped it over the edge...
