Analogue Clock (which to buy)

Post by crazyhorse »

Me again,

I miss a clock in the van, so I know how late I am.

Any suggestions on which to buy?? Saw one on Campervan Culture but thats pricey.

Ideally one that lights up in the dark.

Are they easy to wire. Presumably running off yellow wire on multi pin connector and a suitable earth

Thanks

I just bought one of these to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-24V-LE ... wuYVWovQgt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; mount on the dash ,
quite a smart looking unit and appears to be of reasonable quality .

I got fed up looking for an analogue clock , all seemed to be way overpriced as they are now " retro " and therefore trendy .
you could scour the scrapyards , looking for old triumph dolomites etc .

Analogue clocks are more power hungry than their digital equivalents. A point to consider in terms of battery drain.

Ooo, i like that.

Can I run this off the yellow multi pin lead (clock) or does it have to go through lighter??

Hi guys,

Right then, got my clock.

Cut off the cigarette lighter 12v end Now I have 2 leads, earth and 12v I presume.

Manged to wire it in by the lights, but it only comes on with live ignition, so at least it works. Tried running off the red clock wire before dash multi pin, no joy there.

Where can I splice into a constant 12v feed?? In a simple non stress way. Cigarette lighter has no leads running to it by the way just in case you say to do it there

Thanks

Managed to find a live 12v feed. Found one using a multimeter from the fusebox and ran an earth wire to earth crown.

Hope it doesnt drain the battery. It's this one

Not sure about the temp reader on it though. It said inside the van was 28 last night and outside it was 30 degrees. Anyway to fix this or can I just imagine Im in a hot country??
