Oil & Filter change
Next week want to do a Oil & filter change on my T25. Normally the garage done this in the past, but first time I am going to do it.
I got the oil and oil filter and sump plug washer
Oil Sump plug which way is it to undo (looking from the rear the vehicle).
Oil Filter which way to turn (from underneath the vehicle)

Did this myself a few weeks ago.
Warm engine up.
Always turn it anti clockwise. I did it the other way and wrecked my sump plug. Remember how you undo tap. Thats what someone on here told me. Same for filter. You might need a filter wrench, mine was too tight for hands. I am sure there is another way of getting it off.
Big drain pan underneath first sump wait for it all to come out then move pan to filter.
Change the filter put some oil on the rim. Tighten clockwise, heard that hand tight is enough (according to Haynes). Same for sump plug, when it gets tight, one quick turn to nip it.
Get yourself a funnel when filling oil and make sure the tube comes out, there is an extending pole in the filler. Slowly does it. No funnel and its a messy job, believe me I know.
Put 4.5 liters in there, (what happens if you put the whole 5)??
Put oil from pan into recycling plant and sit back and have a beer or cup of tea.

Many thanks really informative.
Hoping the filter isn't on too tight. I have a wrench somewhere, I'll have to search for it.
I got myself a long funnel as well.
Just need the weather to hold out now!

Is it essential you fill the new oil filter prior to fitment?

Definitely. Warm the engine, then remove the drain plug (always anticlockwise like opening a tap whilst you're looking directly at it)
Wait until it's finished draining, then remove filter (anticlockwise again when looking at it). To assist with the spin off filters, I use one of those rubber jar opening things, called a "Boa Strap Wrench" or similar. I haven't worked on a T3 so I can't claim this method will work, I don't know how much access there is, otherwise Halfords sell oil filter removal tools that clip onto a socket set if access is tight around it.
Wipe the oil filter mount clean, with your fingertip, wipe some new oil around the rubber seal on the new filter and thread it back on. Don't forget to replace the drain plug!!
I usually use a 500ml mineral water bottle, dried out, to empty some of the fresh oil into from the 5l container. Now you're left with exactly 4.5 litres in the new container ready to put in and a handy half litre bottle to use as a top up.
