Rear quarter vent question

When you're driving along, do they draw air out of the engine bay or force it in? :?

they act as scopes and draw air down to the engine bay, same as the cooling in a bay camper, beetle and most air cooled vdubs, but in water cooled the air still taken just inside vent and ducted to air filter.
