Gullibles Trubbles ongoing saga with my Westy Atlantic

Post by thefacepainter »

So after over a year of water leak........fixed! Eventually a Dalek Cap, after everything else was replaced!
Among other parts Tink has had............New fuel pump, radiator, diesel tank (thought things were odd, looked underneath and the diesel was exiting as fast as it was entering) power steering thingy, water pump, oil pump, different pipes...............then had to pay £600 to rectify a loosely replaced cam belt..................of the two reputable garages, neither was at fault of course. Just as I was to pick up li'l Tink from that escapade, a phone call came that the Turbo had gone!
Words can't express my turmoil, and I don't believe the use of expletives fully justify the despair at that point..................over a year, can't travel any distance because something ALWAYS goes wrong!!!! SO, new engine it is.
Asked 8090 for a reputable garage. You all were really helpful, as always, thank you.
So, got new engine. Trouble was, while languishing there for about 3 weeks (engine must have been difficult to fit, right?) a rat had got in and chewed a rat sized hole in the back seat.........strangely cleared up all it's excrement too! But garage said it wasn't necessarily done there....pointed to the rat infested chicken run nearby on the farm the garage is on......so they replaced the cushion, and the fabric, but with joins (that's ok) but not the seat belt yet, or the seat cover to protect the original fabric. It really could only happen to me.
When I got her back, the electrics were a bit confused, radio turning on randomly, alarm ditto, clock not working, A couple months and that still isn't rectified cos they don't have time, as other people are booked in! I'm an old lady, no husband to fight my corner, go figure.
So last week came what I reckon is the piece de resistance.................the engine fell out.
Not onto the ground, you understand, but kinda collapsed and leaned against the bodywork, yanking out the fuel line and not sure what else.............the garage didn't have the time or inclination to come to recover it. I would have to wait. Also said it might not be their fault.............(maybe the fairies and rats at the garage put the engine in???) Anyhoo, reluctantly had to get my son in law to phone them, and after 5 days, they are coming later this morning.......mechanic reckons he can fix it on the driveway, having not looked at it, just from the AA saying the engine mounts are broken.....(turns out they were not completely done up, so hopefully not broken, had to get a mechanic to stop the diesel gushing out over the road)
So, where do I stand?? Should the garage pay for the hire car I needed for work? Should they recover it and look at it PROPERLY?
I'm so fed up, and know he's going to fob me off!
HELP!
Piles of smiles, (if a bit wan) Dobby xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Dobby, what a mess! I've been sitting here thinking up a suitable reply/ comment/ advice!
Get yourself a boiler suit( and a wollie hat) so you can climb under the van ( to see what they are saying is wrong/ loose etc)
I'll post more later.
Kr,Barry.

I wonder if you put a rough indication of your location in your profile, there might be another member who is nearby who can help out?
Have you ever seen an unhappy fool?
