Hi mate, Thinking about having one of those for my van. They're a bit pricey but, are they better than JKs'? Check out the link below. I think the hydrostatic head is 3000mm and yes, they are drive away. Let us know if you get one soon and give us the lowdown. :)

I have one of these and can vouch for their

Speed of erection: ooh er  ( I can put it up and take it down myself whilst the missus gets a brew on )

Stability: ours has stood tall in storms when other tents are being chased down across the campsite during storms by their respective owners

Waterproofing: never leaked (see above).

Driveawayability(?) Never lose your pitch while you are out and about :D

A top piece of kit, pricey yes, but you get what you pay for in my book.

If you get one the secret is (IMHO) to get tension in the fabric between main awning and van. This stops annoying flapping and aids water run off during inclement weather.

Hope this helps

I just bought one of these from camperlands today but the staff hadn't heard of the pole and clamp fitting option. We have got the black strip on our gutter so we can't use the figure of 8 fitting that came with it. Attaching it will be fun via guy ropes but I couldn't resist an ex-display bargain!

They did a demo in the showroom and it went up in 2 minutes.

Ay that we do daft lad :D .

We use a 'J' rail which is riveted onto the hi-top to secure the bellows section to. We don't use the awning as much these days, but as the girls get bigger I'm sure it'll come back into it's own .

They sure ain't cheap but ours withstood the worst weather New Year in't Peak District could throw at it a couple of years ago.

Ours cost £350 4 years ago, we paid £300 6 weeks later. The former owner (a colleague) sold his camper, having inherited enough for a brand new 4 berth gin palace.

They can be put up (with the 4 main guylines and the feet fastened down) in less than 2 minutes .... we did a test with Matt and family a couple of years ago.

What is the J rail stuff you are looking for? Is it an alluminium section that fits to your`van and also to the awning, similar to caravan awning rail? Ca,perlands have a few different alloy section in stock, different profiles etc. May he worth having a look Maxi?

I am on the look out for a new awning this year.
I realy do like the look of the khyam motor dome awning, and i have not heared a bad word been said about them.

The one thing that annoys me about my current awning(bluebird tunnel) is the fact that you cant peg the outer skirting down on it,so in high winds the wind blows in and the rain can often get in.

Also the tunnel from the van to awning has gaps in it,so i want a more sturdy weather proof one.

I will either go for the khyam or the new jk space saver frame awning.

Does the khyam have a skirting that can be secured to the ground? and has anyone had any problems with them in exteme weather conditions?
Regards Lee.
