my conversion was a little more complicated..

the van was originally a diesal, so i had the gearbox replaced for a petrol one so i have no idea what it was originally.

Maybe if i take the starter off and take it too the shop?

ok i got the old one off...

half of the teeth inside are shiny and half were rusty implying that only half were connecting with the subaru and thats why i was having trouble starting....also there was loads of black dirt inside...i tried wiring it straight to the battery but it just shot out and didnt spin

i got a new one to replace from GSF...

I heard about grinding something so it sits inline better, the old starter motor has been grinded so the nuts go on and i also notice the gearbox has been grinded down for it to fit in....anyone have any resources on this?
