G13 coolant?

Post by shrig1969 »

Next on the list is to attempt to change the coolant.
Having read the wiki regarding types etc, it says the jury was still out on G13. Is this still the case or can I buy this
Triple QX stuff from euro car parts?
10 litres with discount is £28.48

Would love to hear people's views for/against so I can be sure it will provide the right protection to the engine.
Currently have blue coolant in it but don't know what grade and when it was last changed.
No problems at the moment but would like piece of mind that everything is correct and the right dilution.

You can stick any antifreeze in a oil burner. But it's not the case with petrol engines

Is that a raised eyebrow and shake of the head answer Rob or do you agree it's acceptable to use?

What Rob says...

Just make sure you really flush the engine if you currently have older blue coolant in.

Been trawling forum/archive for flushing the engine tips and seem to of got my head around it.( I think)
Question - By disconnecting the feed and return hoses from the radiator and draining and flushing from there, will that flush through most of it?
Then do the same for the front heater, disconnect, drain and flush.
All the above done without needing to turn the engine over. Correct?

Did read somewhere about sticking your hose in the expansion tank.
