To confirm: side lights are ok? With headlights on, main beam doesn't work when 'latched'? Main beam does work if you 'flash' them?

Main / dim stalk switch has two power supplies - a permanent for flash and then one from the head light switch - this selects between main or dipped. It sounds like the power supply is dodgy, with the headlights switched on, check you have 12v on the black and white cable and the red and yellow cable at the flasher switch plug. Both should be 12v. If not find out why. If so then it's the switch.

If dipped headlights are working (sure its not just the sidelights?) and the main beam flasher works, then it can only be the flash/dip switch. All cables, connections, earths etc must be OK.

so head lights now operational in a fit a OMG ive tried everything now i put another dash switch in and bingo job sorted :ok ..........interestingly though i took the old switch to pieces and found that the contacts where burnt out..............head light bulbs that are fitted appear to be 55/60 watt(stamped on the bulb) could this be the problem, based on previous posts about upgraded bulbs on standard electrics if this is the case how would i go about wiring a relay in(single head lights) to help protect the switch ive found post on here for twin lamps but not single
regards
