hi my van failed on the dreaded exhaust today, i have the complete system that i have collected over the year, but i am worried about breaking bolts or threads it was a gold seal in 2008 but know they can give problems, anyadvise to get this off would be great im in cornwall thanks gary

If the system has been on 9 years then you may well snap studs getting it off, using heat is a tried and tested method to help relesing rusted studs but not guaranteed.
you can drill out studs and helicoil, you would need a battery drill and a 90 degree drill chuck adapter as well as an m8 helicoil kit.
I fitted stainless studs and nuts, 10 years on I have no rusty stud problems.

lots of cherry red heat, never had a stud or bolt snap with it

I snapped two off in mine in the most awkward places possible , ended up just taking the engine out and sorting it on my bench.
put all the new exhaust on then put the engine back in .
morale of the story is if it can go wrong it will .lol .
