Does removal of cab divider give potential to crack high top

I've got a VW T3 ex ambulance with Dehler high top fibre glass roof.

I want to take out the cab divider which has a sheet metal upper part which is screwed in, so no problem there. It also has a sheet metal lower part which is spot welded so I intend to drill out the welds, so also no problem. But there is a bar going the full cab width about 1"x 1/2" welded on each side of cab.
What are the implications of removing this bar in terms of reducing the rigidity of the body and the potaentil to crack the roof or disturb the roof seals?
