1.9 DG ‘bogging’ on full throttle.

Post by Scudbuggy »

Gents, I’ve got a problem with my 1983 1.9DG ‘bogging’ on full throttle:- Pierburg 2E3 carb.
Seems OK on light throttle, tick over etc. but when you floor it, and lean forward to cope with the G-force  , it feels like you’re slowing down, after a bit it eventually picks up.
Vacuum hoses look OK.
I’ve changed the accelerator diaphragm and this looks to work OK.
The dizzy vacuum advance works.
The secondary butterfly opens when sucking the diaphragm (with the primary held open). I’ve tried to get it to open by revving it and looking down the carb but it doesn’t move (I didn’t want to rev it too hard though).

Any ideas?

accelerator pump perhaps

you won't get 2nd throttle to open when revving stationary, primary is sufficient to rev the nuts off, nedds a load to open 2nd

It's got a new accelerator pump diaphragm and I can see it squirting down the carb. when i push the lever.

have you adjustd the 2nd throttle flap movement
if the tabs on the inlerlock are splayed out it will move a bit which delays if opening as vac is lost
