Fiamma F45 on a pop top?

Post by itchyfeet »

Anybody done it?
It doesn't look like standard brackets will fit gutters and I can't see how it would bolt on?

thanks

Nodody?

OK what about other models, surely the gutter is all but useless on most conversions, how do you fit a fiamma?

drill holes and bolt it to the fibreglass perhaps?

I have seen those fiamma in a bag attached to pop tops.Im not sure you can fit an F45 though. The strain on the fibreglass might be a tad to much in the long term.

Thanks Rob, a google image search shows plenty on brackets on poptops, particularly westies.

I'm going to have to try it I think, I already have one so no harm in trying.

This never got answered before

I don't like those gutter brackets.I had them on my old high top.my gutters ended up cracking. It would of been better if the legs that sit on the pillars had been bolted down, but that would mean drilling holes in the pillars and fitting rivnuts.

Yes I agree they are a bit heavy to be hanging on a couple of 50mm wide bits of gutter, I bought the 3m one too

I suppose I could always sell it and get the bagged type but they still need bolting on the fibreglass.

I'm pretty sure you can get a rail that rivets onto the pop top and the bag slides onto this. Its a better solution than gutter mounts.IMO.

That's how ours is attached, just above the gutter.Image

I think the only way to fit the F45 is to remove a bit of fibreglass to get the brackets to fit in the gutter.
No idea if its possible but going to look at that option, mainly because I gave the awning and brackets already.
If not the bagged one looks like the right choice

Thanks for the comments :ok

hi mate, you only need to get onto the gutter rail down to the base to fit the brackets. Have a look at the image on the link below from JK and it should become clear. The weight is actually taken up on the B pillar and C or D pillar, depending on which model of awning length you go for.

Hope that helps mate, si.

Thanks, I have the brackets and awning, just removed from the tin top but they are very thick and fit sung on standard gutters, the Holdsworth has probably 3mm or so of fibreglass filling the gutter so it just isn't going to fit without cutting that away where the bracket is.
I'm not modding brackets, if anthing goes wrong at it comes off at 70 mph it could kill somebody.
