I'm replacing my front brakes, but the new discs don't have studs in them. Can I reuse the ones from the old disc (assuming they come out)? Or should I use wheel bolts instead?
In case it helps to know, I've got Ronal penta wheels which a previous owner fitted. There's a chunky spacer on them too.
I ended up both removing the old ones and buying new ones (just in case).
The new ones are a bit longer than the ones that came off, so I have put the old ones back on.
But... when I put the old ones on the new disc and when they are properly seated, I can only get 5 turns on the wheel nut when putting the wheel back on. However, it took ~8 turns to get the wheel nuts off when the studs were on the old disc??? That can't be right can it?
I'm planning to swap them out for the new ones which are about 10mm longer and then see if I can get the wheel nut on more securely.

I'll bet that you've wound them in further than they originally were, that's all.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
