JX Battery to body Earth

Wiring diagram shows 35mm2 earth strap from battery to body. Something else that is missing from my van. Can anyone advise the correct body fixing position for this?

Mine doesn't either,so I'm going to fit one!

Let me know what you choose to fit too. I'm wondering if there is a double thickness part of the panel, like on the left for the earth wires?

On my van it goes; negative battery terminal to engine then gearbox to body.
I'm fitting cable going from battery negative to a handy hole in the battery tray ( near the coolant bottle )

Same set-up as mine. I also used the battery tray hole to connect the negative of the battery to.

The primary current consumer (starter) and producer (alternator) are on the engine, so the thick battery earth should go to the engine. Some Golf 3's have battery earth cables with an extra tab part way along at the perfect place to earth to the (diesel) battery tray as well as the crankcase. They also have a number of M6 tappings on the clamps for extra wires to be added.

Aye, mine has a thick earth cable going to somewhere on the alternator (not sure where on it) but I just noticed the battery to body cable when I was perusing your wiring diagrams, and they are pretty specific about the battery to body bit, which is why I'm asking the question. I guess they must have had a reason but my electrical knowledge is limited.
