It's a CO detector you need, then I don't see any reason why you shouldn't.

I don't think it's sensible to recommend you to do this. If you became ill (or worse), you would be perfectly within your rights to blame anyone who gave you contrary advice.
That's not to say I have never used a heater inside a tent myself!

If you have a tilley lamp or better still a Coleman multi-fuel, they give off both light and heat. - but I still can't recommend this even though I have used them myself - for the same reason.
(If you have a sewn in ground sheet there is an additional risk from escaped gas pooling in the bottom of the tent.)
Any heat source near canvas is asking for trouble too. It takes seconds for the lot to go up in flames and any plastic bits (often in the roof) will melt and drip.

As said , be sensible about it and it should be OK. We have used one in the awning for some time.give it time to cool down though . don't just turn off and go to bed as it will retain heat for some time.

Well, I wouldn't try it. What happens if your co battery is or goes duff and lets you down? Not worth the risk imho

thanks for all your info...its getting cold now ie... for the kids so just thought always got gas bottle on van so will take the old superser heater just an idea thanks

Yeah, no worries. Toss it in the back - heating sorted.

As an aside, I've got an extra coupler for the Propex so I can heat up an awning or even another camper. Y-splitters are easy enough to pick up. I switched to an adapted LPG tank so gas is cheap now compared with bottled gas.
