Theres a real compromise when writing between explaining something to a novice without actually making them feel stupid. My own rule is base it on the scenario that the person may have limited funds, equally limited tools and only a very basic knowledge. However, for all that, I still get the odd one that PMs me to ask me things I thought were completely obvious and those with more advanced knowledge complain I'm being too simplistic. Very tricky to get right but I must admit, that piece needs a serious rewrite by whoever put it together. I'm not sure the first chunk is even needed - bit repetitive.

What would be helpful for me is a sticker or card on the relay with the pin out saying what pins go to the coil and what pins go to the switch contacts!

Thanks Cov,of course I can use a meter (30 to 40 ohms) for the coil,and o/c for the switch contacts,but it's a lot easier if there is a pin out on the relay.
