Two switches and turning knob on dash?

Post by Joe Wright »

Hello. Sorry i cant upload the picture for some reason. I have a rhd camper and to the left of the steering wheel on the dash are two round switches and a knob that turns. They dont seem to do anything though. Sorry to be vague, do all vans have these and if so does anyone know what they are. Many thanks. Joe

Diff lock panel on a syncro (4x4) is the only thing that comes to mind, do you think you might have a syncro? If you're not sure, two wheel drive has fuel filler cap next to cab door, it's near the back on a syncro.

If you have a Syncro (4WD van) then the diff lock panel will look like this:

The number of knobs actually present will depend on which differential locks are fitted to your van. If you have a 2WD van then it's unlikely that this is what you have.

I suspect from your very brief description that you have a few modifications that have been made by a previous owner. Have you tried asking the person you bought your van from?

without pics its a guessing game...can you pull switch out/see behind? try to trace wires, or if they look untidy/uneven/scotch blocks its somebodies mod and may well be left from anything over the vans last 30 years of life...try checking for power running to them?

I had something similar - the round knob anyway - and it was connected to rear speakers.
