Hi I'm currently converting my van from a 5 speed 1.9 dg into a 4 speed 1.9 1y diesel.
will my 5 speed 1.9 dg gearbox fit on the 1y engine after the bell housing and input shaft are changed , I'm not sure on the codes on any of them but i no the 5 speed gearbox is a good one or should i just use the 4 speed that come with the 1y engine and change over all the gear linkage?..

Re: Diesel Gearboxes
Petrol gearbox will be fine for the 1Y as long as it has a diesel input shaft, a diesel bellhousing................
and you probably know this already but,(and I apologise for shouting)..........
YOU MUST MAKE SURE THERE'S A SPIGOT BEARING IN THE END OF THE CRANKSHAFT!
