RM122 fridge question

Hi all,
I have a RM122 fridge that runs on gas and 12vdc, but not on mains electricity. To save my expensive gas (907 bottles) I thought I could run it on 230vac via a 10 amp transformer so I can pre-cool it on the drive or possibly run it on an electric hook up.
I have looked around at various power supplies and wiring circuits, the power supplies are relatively expensive; is there a cheaper power supply available (PC power supply???) that people have used?

Do you know how long the bottle will keep the fridge going for? I only ask because the amount of gas a fridge uses is pretty negligible - not much more than a pilot light.

Hi,
I know we emptied two gas bottles during a two week trip to France, whilst we had a hook up on most sites. It may have been that I was unlucky with two almost empty bottles to start with. The book says 200g per 24 hr on the coolest setting, with 2.72 kg per bottle that gives approx 13 days of use.
If I can find a low cost power supply I am happy to do the rest, also saves me from doing the head down, bum up gas lighting procedure..

I will keep looking, before I know it I will be fitting a full blown battery charger and power supply..........

If you want/ need to precool the fridge, use a load of ice packs, frozen peas, and pre chilled bottled water. from the house before you start to travel rather than using gas.

We normally do the do the ice pack trick to drag the temp down or freeze a pint of milk when packing it; it was more to use the electric hook up if we can. I am lucky enough to be able to plug the van in on the drive so I could pack the fridge the night before and leave it plugged in, then jump in and go and not forget to un-plug it........................

Just stumbled on this post, for a bit of night time reading.

The LED controller supply featured on the link is actually a really good supply.

I did the same some time ago, and this supply is brilliant. It also offers further outputs for lighting, tv etc. Very stable, and fan not too intrusive
