question on t25 choke
just wondering ive read in my users manual some thing about the manual choke, its an 87 t25 and says sumert about bliping the accelerator twice to engage the choke to start from cold??? can anyone explaint the ins and outs of this? as im a total novice!! im just wondering weather this might be causing the engine to struggle and faulter whilst driving ie not engaging the choke on a cold day or leaving the choke on for to long not disengaging it??? any ideas? many thanks in advance

BEFORE starting, yes its wise to put the accelerator to the floor, this will "reset" the choke flap of a carburated engine..
then start.. but you may still need to use the accelerator to keep it running for a minute.. then drive off..
Remember these vehicles are old and worn, people are so used to getting in a "modern" vehicle and just turning the key.. the T25 doesnt (generally) have much in the way of electronics like a modern car..

mmm tiz just puzzling me i know its an good old engine but strange that it ran for 50 miles fine with out any hiccups but then the struggling began, would it make any difference that the tank was nearly on empty when when ifirst picked it up? maybe its picked up all the sludge and crap at the bottom and bunged it up when the weathers right i want to get under neath and check out the petrol filter near the tank, where some one has told me there may be a blockage there, does anyone know how easy it is to take the filter off and have a look?

undo two hose clips and pull it from between the pipes, have a bolt ready to pop in the pipe from the tank or you will get smelly elbow syndrome.
The filters are pence each, just replace it

make sure throttle cable is adjusted properly.
Then, when wanting to start from cold depress the accelerator pedal once fully to the floor, this will engage the auto choke.
The engine should then fire up and idle at a higher than normal speed, as the engine warms the revs will drop to the normal idle speed.
If this doesn't happen then something is broke.
If the engine chugs or seems to choke up then chances are the pull down unit is knackered and should be replaced.
Also check the servo pipe isn't drawing in air, and the vac advance unit is working proplerly.
