Tool required

Post by what2do »

Tool required for cleaning up the face of the head where the spark plug sits (not a thread restorer). For the life of me I can't remember what they're called so my search is proving fruitless. It's very similar to a tap reseating tool. Anybody remember the proper name? Thanks.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

If the head is off - large piece of dowel in a drill and grinding paste, at low speed.
Would an oil plug seat refacer do the job? M14/M15 thread - I don't know what spark plugs use as I haven't touched one for years! :D

Need to do it in situ, it's not critical but I was surprised how much oxidisation I found on the face when doing a compression test at the weekend with Itchy. Can never have too many reasons for tool purchase. There's a Snap on tool for the task on eBay but it's in the states, how/where do you find the item number on eBay so that I can put a link up?

This kit is a complete with seat cutter

Again from the states. But I am sure the repair kits have the same seat cutter in in the UK ones.

I remain unconvinced that the sump plug refacer will not perform the same function. Go on convince me otherwise!
