Screen Rust

Post by Oilline »

Took my screen out prior to re-spray to attend to any rust.
One small hole which i have cut out to weld a patch in

As you can see the the flange faces of the two panels have surface rust which i presume runs the full length of the seem. Obviously i cannot split the panel to treat so how can i prevent it getting any worse. All i can think of is spraying with some thin Dinatrol to creep into the seem.

Once you have the repair filled and painted, you could warm the seam up with a heat gun and brush some waxoil or dinitrol onto the top. It will fill the seam by capillary action. Keep adding until the seam is full. Same applies to most other seams around the van.

Most important thing is to make sure the new screen seal doesn't leak.
