Sump plug length

Post by captain Byrne »

Anyone know how long is too long for a sump plug? Had to tap my sump and bought a plug which is 25mm long, (measuring from washer to tip of plug). A tad worried as it's quite a bit longer than the original.

Interesting question, I was once worried the swing of the crank could come close to the sump plug when using a wheel bolt as a temporary sump plug ( I lost mine, it's worth noting the same thread :D ) but in reality the crank is above the cam and the cam is miles away from the sump plug.
