Fuel line restriction

Replaced the fuel lines and found what looks like a jet screwed into the Y piece on the fuel line (the line that feeds the carb,)l haven't put it back in and the van runs brilliant,my question is why should it be there?it's running a Webber carb,any ideas

In the absence of any other views - maybe you have an electric pump that was giving too much pressure or faulty float valve and it was used to reduce the pressure.?????

No OBG,just a norma mechanical pump,cant understand it,unless the previous owner was coned into believing it was a necessary adjustmet.

Could have been an accessory to a "Snake Oil" fuel conversion scam.

It's not the fuel filter that's inside the inlet for the fuel line is it?

It's like a little funnel made out of mesh.

No,its definitely a jet,like a small main jet with a really minute hole,but the van ran perfectly fine with it in and as I said I've removed it and it still runs perfectly fine,odd,wonder if the previous owner somehow thought it may save fuel???

Mine has a similar jet but in the tank return line I assume it is to make sure enough fuel goes to the carb rather than taking the path of least resistance back to the tank. I have a weber carb and mechanical pump and it works fine and has for years

That seems feasible.mine was in the other way so's to restrict the carb but it may well have been inserted wrongly in the first instance,running done to Brittany at the weekend so we'll see how it goes.
