Starter motor gasket
Hi all.........I'm replacing the starter motor on my t25. I've been told that it is not necessary to fit a gasket. Can anyone enlighten me please? Thanks.

Mine doesn't have a gasket.
Actually, if I think about it, the starter motor needs to be earthed through the engine, so a gasket would insulate it and the van wouldn't start.

Thanks all for your replies. What's the best way to get the bush out and refit the new one?T3luestar wrote:Don't forget to fit a new bush while your at it.

An M12 tap. make sure it tapers down a bit on the end, or it won't bite. It's fiddly, so be prepared to get frustrated..!!

Failing that, you can leave it in and get a starter motor that doesn't need a bush, but they are the `high torque` variety and are a bit more expensive.

The 12mm tap works brilliantly in getting the bush out
