Hi,
Has anyone used, or had experience of, Irwin's Rusty Bolts/Nuts extractor set. Seems to be the right tool for the right job.
Thanks

Yes. Buy the expansion set too. Truly amazing tools, if one size doesnt grip on whatever is left of the bolt head, go down a size and hammer it on firmly. They are very tough so dont be shy!

Re: Rusty bolts etc
Over the many years I have spent in Engine Manglement & bodgeification I haven't had that much success with the Male type of extractor - Tapitout or some such. It seems to me that if they are big enough to do the job they are also big enough to expand the stud and cause it to jam even harder. So for busted off studs etc, I usually bash a nut over the protruding bit and weld it over. The heat applied tends to loosen the jam and the nut provides the necessary purchase. I haven't seen the Irwin's Rusty Bolts/Nuts extractor set before though.
The Irwin's Rusty Bolts/Nuts extractor set does however provide a much more sophisticated and elegant solution by simply turning the Tapitout inside out.

Used a set with Aidan when stripped my heavily corroded gearbox. Amazing, bought a set and expansion pack immediately.
