40mm roof vent replacement options

Post by dougieboard »

Hello all.

My van has a Reimo rear-hinged elevating roof which basically works but I have a problem with the roof vent. It is a standard 40mm opening, but rather than a conventional plastic unit, it has a single-glazed glass hatch of a type you might find in a boat. It is made by Farnier Penin.

The problem is that the catch for it is broken. I can secure it, but I can't have it open on site and spares parts for FP stuff appears to be restricted to minibus windows. So I need to replace the whole unit.

Easy enough, but I am anxious to get the lowest roof vent I can find. The current one does not protrude above the elevating roof by more than about 10mm. Does anyone who has replaced theirs, or happens to know a lot about roof vents know which modern replacement has the least amount of material above the line of the roof?

Things like the Seitz Mini-Heki range look to be tallest so I am favouring one of the Fiamma units at the moment, on price as much as anything else.

Any other advice would be very welcome however.
