Sikaflex over paint

Post by oddnumber »

Morning all, hope everyone had a good and sunny weekend.

I've been looking at redoing the sealant on my high top, but when it was resprated last year the existing sealant was sprayed over. So, could I simply run a line of Sikaflex over the existing seal or would the old need to be removed?

Thanks for any advice :)

Why are you repairing it? Is it leaking?

Depending on the amount of damage etc you may get away with patching up, however, if leaking a lot or it looks to be in a bad state of repair the general advice would be to do it once and do it right. Remove all sealant and replace with new. Never done this job but it could be roof off.

Oh and pictures help as all this depends on roof type, conversion etc.

Jon.

Thanks Jon. No damage/leaks, but the paint has cracked a little bit over the top, and I don't know when it was last done either. I'd rather err on the side of caution and keep things watertight

This is how it looks presently, as you can see it all looks alright.
