Exhaust studs & nut 1984 T25 Water cooled

Post by nesty »

I am planning on having a new S/S exhaust fitted in the coming months.

I thought do a bit of forward planning and start soaking the nuts & threads in penetrating oil.
What is the best stuff to use plus gas?

My engine was fully reconditioned by reptuable engine builder (previous owner) in 2004. The studs & threads look fine, good conditon no rust. Though the nuts seen better days slightly rusty and probably need replacing when taken off.

What is the best nuts to get for a S/S system.

Thanks

Plus gas.
They should come off easy though due to the recent fitting.
Have you tried one yet?
It would be a good indication of how easy it'll be.

Use a hex socket if possible or a ring spanner, never an open ended.

I was thinking of trying one to see how it would come off. I think the nuts would come off ok after a bit of plus gas. The threads do look very good condition, only the nuts which look a bit weathered.

I would like to replace the nuts though. What is a good type copper ones?
