electrical probs

i have a few probs with me van.the battery keeps going flat over a frew days.the lights go dim then bright and the wipers go quick and slow anyone got any ideas ?

sounds like regulator/brush carrier held in the back of alternator with 2 crosshead screws--take it out, you will probably find the 2 carbon brushes are worn right down--replacement from GSF about £14--

get the brushes out and go to a lucas servoce centre they will be able to get it next day of not in stock fro about £7! don't go to halfwits! i made that mistake adn after waiting 15 mins for the parts guy to back of his break he said, "alternator brush set, hmmm, i don't have opne specifically for the alternator but we do have a wire bruch set for cleaning the engine in general!" TW@!!

ive renewed the regulator and still no good.?

Clean up all your eatrths and battery connections.
how old is the battery?

get a V meter on the battery.
engine running 14 ish volts if the alternator is charging the battery.
With the engine off the voltage should be 12V

Hi mate got yer pm----lights bright/dim wipers fast/slow is this as you rev the engine up & down-that points to regulator- which you replaced---or do you mean lights dim & wipers slow after a few days as your battery flattens?---that would suggest alternators not charging- check all yer connections--
