Rubbing noise

Post by sendiw »

I get a funny rubbing noise from the rear(not my rear) when I turn right.I dont have to turn hard to the right or go fast for it to happen. Has anyone had a similar problem . cant see anything obvious.I recently changed the rear backplates and noticed a bit of runout in the nsr drum.If it is this, why does it only happen when I turn right? :?

When you changed your back plates, did you check your wheel bearings for play :?: :?: :D

I tested the bearings as best I could ie. top to bottom. There was a very small amount of play. I will have another look and try for in and out movement. It is looking like the bearings. I was hoping for a simple solution (wishful thinking)
Thanks Old One..

You might also check the big nut (not the one behind the wheel   ) in the center of the hub.
If you have play by holding the top of wheel and rocking hard this will in turn make the break drum move, and depending on amount of play, cause it to rub the back-plate :P :P

I see where you are coming from. I will give that some serious investigation as soon as the weather improves.
Thanks again.. the nut behind the wheel
