1.6TD JX to 1.9 1Y conversion
Just bought a Mk 3 Golf with a 1Y 1.9 N/A Diesel to use as a donor for my dead and rebuilt many times JX . Does anyone know if I can fit everything from my old engine , TURBO and all , or is it better for reliability to leave it non turbo . Speed is not a real issue but reliability is a big factor ... Will the 1Y engine be ok with the JX turbo and pump ?? anyone done this before ???

Some 1Y engines have 1.9 TD stamped on the block there are oil cooling jets for the cylinders on TD engines.You can use your 1.6 td parts on these engines.I have done this conversion using 1.6td parts and had no problems
