Engine Splash Shield loose

Post by crazyhorse »

Hi all,

Quick question. A large rattling noise has started coming from the back of my van. Not there when I am going say 50mph. But when stationary or going slow it's very noisy

Had a look underneath, and one side of the engine splash shield is loose (the end towards the front)

Could this be the cause?? It does sound like a vibrating noise,

If so how and what do I attach it to?? Or failing that can I take it off??

Which bit is loose? Is the return that has two fastens ears which screw into the bulkhead? There's one on the other side that too, that should be fastened in the same manner.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Following on from earlier post.

Would this be enough to make a rattling noise.

Excuse the writing.

Are you sure that's loose? It's the rocker cover and I've have thought it would leak oil if it were loose.

E D I T! I thought the component labelled by the word 'here' was the culprit. Now I see you mean the pushrod shield and the answer is yes, it would rattle like a bugger if loose. My old ones were corroded where the hole is for the bolt to go through, yours maybe the same. A s/h shield or even a large washer to grip the remainder of the shield will solve the rattling.
