Wiring in Behind Cigarette Lighter

Morning all, I recently purchased some interiors lights for pick ups footwell just some led light strips. They came with a plug for the cigarette lighter however I think it looks a sight plugged into the cig lighter. A friend told me that you can wire it in behind the cig lighter so it's not on show how would I go about doing this? Cheers

just go straight to the fuse box via a relevent inline fuse and a switch surely?

Decided to wire them into my sidelights so when it's gets dark and I put my lights on my footwell lights come on aswell. Thanks for suggestion though
