Sliding door problems

Sliding door has a little problem when I put the key into the handle I have to keep the key turned and then press the handle down whilst keeping it turned for the sliding door to open I take the key out shut the door and the door is locked again anybody any ideas? :shock:

Is the child lock on?

It's An 82 joker, is the child lock the big black knob that lifts up? If not Where would I find the child lock? Regards for the reply

open the door and have a look on the face that mates to the B post there will be a small elongated slot and within that a lever, this is the kid clamp

No I can't see any child lock there is an aperture there but nothing within :roll: :roll:
Anyone have any more ideas? A

Ahh ive just re-read this, so when you shut the door does the black know drop on its own ?
now with the door open can you remove the key ?
if yes then when you do this does the knob stay put or drop ?
next with door open close the latch with your thumb to simulate it being closed and locked ,what does the knob do now
