The shims are between the two cheeks of the water pump pulley.

thanks,ah right, think i get it now, remove shim/shims so it lifts the belt from the grove and tightens it,i'm a new owner its all a bit new to me,the belt from crank to waterpump is a lot thinner than the alternator belt and so sits a lot lower in the pulley, wrong belt maybe?,its an import and only done 67000 km,there's no part number on the old belt,i've looked on a few parts suppliers and there seems to be a few different lengths, don't suppose anybody has a part number for the correct belt please?,thanks in advance Dave
