Engine overhaul advice

Post by biker1981 »

Just after some advice.
I have a 2.0 Aircooled t25 the engine runs perfect. But has few little issues, the tin wage is bit scruffy underneath. The exhaust doesn't look like its 100% fitted properly including heather riser elbow. And finally has a bad oil leak.

Not using the van much at the moment so was thinking should I remove the engine from the van put it in the garage and sit and work on it, tappers, gaskets, rebuild carbs etc etc ... Or is that a bit over kill.

How easy is removing and refitting the engine ? I can find lots of guides for the 1600 but not 2.0. Any advice appreciated

Removing the tinware is the hardest bit.
Your options are considerable, only your wallet and confidence is stopping you doing a lot of refurbishment.
Barrels, rings, heads, valves all can be renewed.
Further in pumps, mains and ends are another obvious renewal.
End float, clutch, spigot bearing
Various oil seals.
