Sleeping Arrangements

Post by owlets »

With the new year upon us, thoughts now turn to the camping trips of this year and with the addition of Owlets Minor I need to think about where she is going to sleep.

So, what and where do your sprogs aged under 1 year sleep? I've got a Westy Pop top and refuse to sleep in the top so, she could sleep there but obviously I need to put her in a travel cot or similar.

Any solutions/ideas, would be gratefully received :D

Happy new one Owen.

Kev made a nifty bed for Jack which would hold a reasonable travel cot and keep said sprog lower down for easy maintenance.
There is a thread on here somewhere, but it goes across the front seats.
Have a Westy poptart too nad would have been happy for ours to sleep up there if in something, would require a net/gate for them to just sleep on the mattress up there.

Cheers, Paul.

Cheers Paul.......Happy New thingy to you and yours too.

Presume Mr Rev did the bed for you...........one over the front seats would be fine, plan is to put her on the top bunk when she's older and I've replaced the canvas (must sort that out and find someone that can do it for me). Had a look on JK earlier and they do a mesh guard for the upper bunk.

Bed

Post by blurb55 »

Hi Owen, the bed was for his large sprog not mine, the sleep in the attic.

Canvas replacement in a Westy is a portion of urine, can talk you through it as I did our in an afternoon on my own - you just need to be able to use a screwdriver and an 11mm spanner.

In fact there is some other geezer down Aylesbury way I offered to help - perhaps a non techy canvas swapping meet is in order?

The yanks' instructions said 5 peeps and to remove the entire poptart - which is typical overkill. Some pics on the website of the van going through the process.

Just give me a shout if you want help with it.

Cheers, Paul.

New here, but have had campers for many years. First was a 66 splitty, then 68, 70.. yadda, yadda.

When mine were wee ones, I modified a westy over front seat cot to mount in front of back hatch at window height. Had to shorten the bars (had round ones, some are a "C" kind) by cutting a section out near one end and forcing pieces into a piece of pipe and stitching a pleat into canvas so it was like a shelf in a car back window behind the rock 'n roll bed seat. Clip/pockets for bars mounted on window sill on one side and closet on other... of course it depends where closet door is. We loved it... When wee one woke up during the night, just set up and give them a bottle/change and go back to sleep!

If you have any questions, just ask!

Lloyd

Possible, but from bottom of window to top of bed is only about 30mm max.. and with Mum & Da in bed, about half that... not much of a fall.

She's already getting too big for her moses basket unfortunately Mark.........been doing some digging and found this which looks quite handy. Could put it up front on the captains seats with a table or box type thing underneath.

Its either that or sell the van and get a T4 or a caravan

Owlets, hi
Just a suggestion :) . When my nippers were small and we had some travelling to do, I used a cardboard box! It flatpacks, and can be thrown out after your finished. Not used it in a camper, but have in a tent. Keeps 'em warm as well. Cheap and cheerful 'til you source a more permanent solution. Hope this helps,
Myk. :D

Morning

Just a quick thought whilst making a cuppa.
Nestling here in our kitchen we have a collapsable plastic box whose sides fold in, but when folded out makes an ideal rug rat cage for nightime.

A bit like this:

and they are cheap as chips cos they are used for agricultural produce. You could place this across the two front seats when turned inwards. Then fold it away during the day.

In fact you could even put the mini-owlet up top in one of these until she is mobile enough to escape.

Owlets,

just out of interest why are you dead against sleeping in the top yourself? It would solve your problem in one fell swoop! :?: The rear section of the RnR bed, over the engine compartment, makes a perfect cot - when in the up position, the little one can't fall out. You can put him/her to sleep and still use the rear seat, just hang a little curtain up to seperate the rear area.
