Petrol tank leak

Post by knightone »

Recently acquired 1980 Air Cooled T25[T3] after T2 previously owned for 28 years was stolen outside my house. Got a petrol tank leak but don't think it the usual rot issue but the filler neck seal. I'm not really up to doing the work myself so I'm wondering if anyone knows of anyone specialising in T25 petrol tank replacement in the North London/Essex area. Thanks, Tony

Could try westside motors in Woodford Green (Aircooled expertise) or Vw Down Under in stanford le hope. Neither t25 specific but they have experience with them. Or it's a couple of hours drive to the excellent Campershack in Grantham.. though i guess if fuel leaking you won't want to venture far.

I recently replaced the hoses, and filler neck etc!! I took off the tank to inspect it etc and was fairly easy to be honest!!

After all that work I still had a leak, turned out to be the grommets on the tank where the breather hoses attach, I didn't replace them and still haven't, I just don't brim the tank anymore!!

You'll be able to change the neck etc it's pretty easy.
