Easy start yea or nay for DG engine

Post by Sir Brixalot »

Was going to keep a can handy in case the carb dried out because I haven't switched over for a while. Seen some scare stories. What are your thoughts?

Have used it in the past on Landrover, mini, lawnmower and campervan. (All petrol). Haven't had any problems

I have used "Easy Start" after having had the fuel tank out a couple of times whilst renewing water pipes, replacing the tank etc etc, if you have a conventional fuel pump the carb will be dry, especially if you leave it for some time prior to refitting. I also used it after replacing a knackered fuel pump and found a quick squirt of "easy start" was enough to get the engine to turn a couple of times to allow the fuel pump to catch up. I did try sucking up the petrol and the taste of unleaded is revolting. Not recommended !

So a yea for me

Switch it to lpg and petrol until fuel comes through, if you didn't have dual fuel I'd say good idea but no point when you have a second fuel.

Doesn't want to switch even moving at 30mph, engine just dies and I want it as back up if LPG doesn't work. It hasn't really worked for a while and I want to get it going an put a few miles on it running with pertrol.

usually pressing the button you can have these states...
1 petrol only
2 no fuel (while petrol float chamber empties) after a short while it will die if idling better to press the button while moving to move to the next state.
3 lpg only.
4 lpg and petrol (while float chamber fills) after a while it will run rich as running on both fuels, hit the button to move to next state.
1 Petrol only.......

If this does not work then something is wrong, better to fix it then rely on easy start.
