speedo arm inoperative

Post by skater »

Hi all. Just brought a 1990 1.9 petrol transporter. Few little glitches, one of which is that the speedo arm doesn't work, although the speedometer does. Makes a bit of a whirring noise. Haven't even attempted to get into the dash yet - thought I'd see what others had to say first. :)

Make sure the cable is pushed onto the back of the speedo and check the circlip is in place on the other end,it protrudes through the centre of the cap on the nearside wheel. The square hole in the cap can sometimes become rounded as well.

If cap is rounded at wheel, its possible to hammer metal from inside cap which will close the hole slightly after which you can file it square again
