Tell tale lights .

Post by dogbreath100 »

Hi , I hope someone can shed some light on this , litterly.
All my tell tale lights are not working.
Oil light, indicator, glow plug and hi beam all missing.
I still have the flashing red light and fuel gauge.
Everything else seems ok.
Any ideas ?

That's a strange collection of problems;
If fuel gauge and flashing red light (coolant) are working then the gauge cluster has a good 12v supply.
The oil light, indicators and glow plug all use that 12v.
The high beam uses the ground connection at the gauge cluster.

So, not sure that there can be a single cause that would make all those fail at once .......
Maybe the long white 14 pin connector on the back of the gauges could need a good wiggle?!?

I think it probably is an earth problem at the 14way connector, you can test it by running a wire from ground (screws that hold dash panel down are handy) to earth point on dash such as contact pad for warning lights panel illumination bulb (think its the pad nearest windsceen but check with lights off!).

Thanks for the replies, I had a look around earlier and couldn't find anything amiss .
Played around with the 14 pin connector but no joy .
Will try the earth wire tomorrow ,
Thanks again .

Hardwire, same as mine. Best solution to be honest.
