800 deg c EGT!!

Post by dave friday »

Afternoon all,so...when I'm driving into the wind and up a motorway hill at 50 mph I get up to 800 deg c and boost of .6 to.7 bar...to get the egt down to 300 ish I have to change down!
Any thoughts/ideas?

change down :ok

the gearbox will be happier too, don't lug around on the torque these vans were designed for engines that rev, low revs does not necessarily mean low fuel consumption, driving with the engine in a happy place is best

Thanks Aidan, the problem with changing down is that the engine is doing 4000rpm for 40mph!
I was wondering if my egt gauge is reading correctly ? and how to check it...
