HUGE thanks to SYNCROANDY for investigating, testing and supplying me an ECU that will talk to my scan gauge ... Turns out that my VERY early ("94 dated ) ECU from a "96 golf doesn't support the scan gauge ... "Will now though"
in too deep to quit now....
