Welding over Vactan

Post by alank950 »

After applying Vactan ,can the treated area be spot welded over?
Did an internet search but came up with nothing ...
I am fitting a boot panel and I will be treating the underneath with vactan before I place the panel on,then it needs drilled and spot welded

As far as I'm aware , vactan doesn't like excessive heat . It will probably rust in the area of the spot weld afterwards. Can't you spot it then paint over after?

I don't think so the area I am covering in vactan I will be sloting the boot panel over ..I was more concerned if the spot welds will hold ok with the vactan being spot welded on..
I will retreat the spot welds with vactan afterwards as well..

Vactan is a vinyl acrylic co polymer so it will burn while welding and may contaminate the weld.
probably best remove it before welding.
